At Hyundai Power, we get asked about air compressor price almost as often as we get asked about power and tank size — but the truth is, price only makes sense once you understand what you're actually paying for. Picking the right air compressor isn't just about the brand — it comes down to a few key specifications: power, tank size, airflow, pressure, and voltage. Once you understand what each one does, comparing models (and their prices) becomes much easier.

How an Air Compressor Works

Inside, a motor drives a pump. The pump pulls in air and pushes it into a tank, building up pressure until it reaches a set limit. When a tool draws air from the tank, the pressure drops, and the motor turns back on to refill it. This cycle repeats on its own. That's also why tank size matters just as much as motor power — a bigger tank means the motor turns on and off less often during steady use.

Some models are oil-free. Instead of using oil inside the pump, they use special coatings on the moving parts so no lubricant touches the air. This matters in jobs where even a small amount of oil in the airline is a problem.

The Key Numbers to Understand

Power (HP or Watts): This tells you how strong the motor is. A stronger motor usually fills the tank faster and keeps up with heavier air demand. But power alone doesn't tell the full story — a strong motor with a small tank still won't handle long, continuous jobs well.

Tank Size (Litres): This is how much air is stored and ready to use before the motor needs to turn on again. Small tanks (around 24L) are fine for short, occasional jobs. Bigger tanks (50L and up) hold more air, which helps when a tool needs air non-stop rather than in short bursts.

Airflow (Litres per minute): This tells you how much air the machine can actually deliver while running. For tools used continuously — like spray guns or pneumatic tools — this number often matters more than tank size, because the machine needs to keep up with steady demand.

Pressure (kPa or Bar): This is how much force the air is pushed out with. Different tools need different pressure levels to work properly, so match this to your equipment instead of just picking the highest number available.

Voltage: Smaller machines run on normal household power (230V). Larger, industrial machines need 380V three-phase power — something worth checking before buying, since not every site has this type of power connection.

Oil vs. Oil-Free — What's the Real Difference?

Oil-lubricated machines use oil to reduce friction inside the pump. They tend to run quietly and handle heavy, regular use well, which is why they're common in general workshops.

Oil-free machines skip the oil completely. This is important for jobs where air purity matters — spray painting (oil can ruin the paint finish), food-related equipment, and delicate pneumatic tools. The trade-off is that these pumps may wear out a little faster over time, though this depends on build quality.

Comparing Air Compressors by Use Case

Light, occasional use (24L tank): A small 750W (1.5HP) air compressor in this range delivers about 140 litres of air per minute at 800kPa. The oil-free version of the same size gives slightly less airflow around 130 litres per minute a small trade-off for the oil-free design.

Regular workshop use (50L tank): A standard 2HP air compressor here delivers about 180 litres per minute at 800kPa. Its oil-free version actually performs better in this size up to 236 litres per minute at 8 bar proving that oil-free machines aren't always weaker; it depends on how well each one is built. Another option in this size uses a slightly stronger 2.1HP motor but gives lower airflow, around 105 litres per minute a good reminder that power alone doesn't decide performance.

Industrial and commercial use (100L–400L tanks): These machines run on 380V three-phase power. A 100L unit (5.5HP) gives about 170 litres per minute, while a 200L unit with the same 5.5HP motor gives a much higher 600 litres per minute showing that tank and pump design matter as much as motor strength. A 300L unit (7.5HP) reaches about 670 litres per minute, and the largest 400L unit (10HP) delivers close to 900 litres per minute. These larger models are built for continuous, heavy-duty industrial use.

Air Compressor Price in Pakistan

Air compressor prices in Pakistan vary based on motor power, tank size, airflow, pressure rating, compressor type, and electrical requirements. A smaller 24L unit usually falls into a different price range than a larger 50L model, and industrial units (100L–400L) are generally positioned in a different price range because of their larger tank capacities, higher motor power, airflow, and electrical requirements. Oil-free models can also be priced differently from standard ones, depending on their design and specifications.

Instead of asking "how much power do I need," think about how you'll actually use your air compressor:

Continuous or repeated tool use (like spray guns) → focus on airflow, since the machine needs to keep up with steady demand
